-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Rosegarden is more similar to Cubase as it has notation and composition capabilities. LMMS appears to be more like Reason or fruity loops. Rosegarden is also packaged with K/X/Ubuntu, and has for a while. A fun synth to play around with is zynaddsubfx, also packaged in Ubuntu.
Some other interesting apps are Ardour (another great sequencer that lacks MIDI support, but can use Rosegarden for MIDI), BEAST, AMS (a modular synth similar in capabilities to Reaktor), QMIDIArp (MIDI-Arpeggiator), This is a deep rabbit hole, so have fun but be careful with your time management :) Having these packaged for Debian/Ubuntu is nice, but there can be a lot more work to integrate and tune these apps.
