Nick was correct in that the drivers for both my Windows boxes required updating in order to handle 128 bit keys.
Gustin was correct in that dhclient worked when pump failed.
I now have my Live CD Kanotix running happily on my FC3 laptop and both Windows boxes all connected to the Internet. I'm writing this on Kanotix.
For a while it looked like the XP desktop was going to give me trouble. I left the 64 bit key in the first slot of the nic software and plunked the 128 bit one in slot two and set slot two as the default. For unexplained reasons, that doesn't work with D-Link software. I had to put the 128 bit key I wanted in slot 1 regardless of what the default key setting was.
Thanks guys - that was really helpful :)
Jon
