But truly...what others benefits do members really have? Have we looked at expanding the ranges of sponsors? Example: show your clug card at Joe's Coffee House and get 10% off your purchase...or perhaps some business out there that are running Linux/Open SOurce software...saying ok... CLUG is here to help promote it's use...give us a discount or something and our members will come to your store (doesn't have to be tech realted....what about clothing stores or something...no one likes a naked geek) Maybe offering some sort of premium on something (discounts on CLUGwear, etc.) to members would give more value to the membership. I would have no problem pitching a toonie or a loonie in a hat at each meeting/installfest/BBQ/event (as a suggested donation) to help build a project fund or something like that... on top top of what i would pay for a membership as well. And lets say we bring someone to a meeting...we could pay their way.. as they would be our guest. > more importantly ... i mentioned BBQ. and it's certainly > springtime outside my > window. when are we having a CLUG BBQ? perhaps we could do one with the > CUUGers? would be fun. i miss our BBQs. That is an awsome idea....partying with CUUG'ers..or is that cougars? ;-) I have a couple of t-bones in the freezer just waiting to be Q'd. Get some ofthat Open Source beer and we have a party. IDEAS: * Maybe we could take a cue from Wal-Mart and have greeters at the meeting. WOuld be nice to have new people being physically and individually welcomed. * I think Ian mentioned lettiung Tier ones vote as a way to show their value. I agree with that. I am not saying they should be able to vote on more formal business (AGM's, etc.)...but if we were to have survey's or polls at the meetings, maybe giving them a chance to participate. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
