Kin do you have more then 1 phone hooked up to each box? How exactly does it work with your phone? I have seen the setup guids on line and I have been lead to believe that you hook up their supplied box to your router and then connect a phone to that box or get a router that also has ports for your phone. Can you fill us all in please.

For home, you can connect a phone directly to the voip router which hangs off your ip router which is connected to the Shaw or DSL. If you go downstairs into the wiring board where your Telus lines come in and break out -- connect the voip router box to that instead. Basically, you replace the lines from the Telus -- this way all your phones will be using the Voip router.
The Voip router that I have is by Linksys and has the ability to supply two lines -- so there are two RJ11 phone jacks on the box. Alternatively, but not recommended, you can temporarily pull the lines from Telus from the break out and just plug a RJ11 M-M patch cord into a working phone socket. This will be connected to the breakout and back out again to all the other outlets.
For the office, we have a black box in the phone closet and multi-line handsets, but in many ways it is not two different from your home setup. All I did was connect the Voip telephone line out to one of the line in on the black box (not exactly that simple, you need to punch down on a breakout bar and then connect into the black box. How you connect into the black box will depend on the brand.) As a result our line 4 is our free long distance line that is reflected on all the handsets in the whole office. This solutions is good for small offices like ours.
The latter job should be done by a professional -- typically the building manager don't want anyone poking around in the telephone closet -- huge liability and insurance issues. I don't know whether it was a bright or foolish move, but I took the risk and did it myself. The phone company called afterwards wanting to offer a much more expensive solution (factor of 20).
