Haven't read the article, but the makers of Skype were also the founders of Kazaa if memory serves me right. Tried them a year ago when they were in beta and had some problems with laptop sound drivers (I'm sure that has been resolved), but I have heard good things about them.

I have been looking intovoice over IP for a few weeks but haven't had the change to try any of them. I was considering switching my home phone to Vonage as they have pretty great prices and options out the wazoo. :)
I am going to try skype first though as I really only need a cheap option for my wife to call her sister in Vancouver. I was wondering about usb handsets that ring when a skype call comes in or possible ways to tie skype calls into your regualr phone. This can be done I think with the proper hardware. I like the idea of being able to use my regualr cordless phone to talk over the net.
