By just running the thing, you're also standing in the front line trenches, ready to take a bullet when the invading hordes show up. There's two parts to bug fixes. Knowing the bug exists is only part of it. It takes bug reports to kick off any potential bug fix. It also takes a somewhat discerning user to recognize a bug for what it is, and not everyone can do that. Both Debian and Gnu supply bug report systems that feed right into the bug tracking system. -- Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced.
