Chip, I take it that the official version number we will be advertising will be 4.0.0.beta6?
What will the next version number be? Have we agreed on a versioning number scheme? (I mentioned SemVer a few times and people seemed to like it.) Not that we have to use that, but it would be a good idea to have a clear picture in our mind about how we're planning to increment it. And I think we should document that in some nominal form. I also notice the "4.0" in the URL. Should that not be "4.0.0.beta6"? The above is just my opinion. But I do have some process things to bring up: 1. Who is the actual release manager for the 4.0 release? I think that person should be the person to prepare the source artefacts and the person to call the vote. I am not comfortable with the one person preparing the artefacts and another person calling a vote on them. The vote is a personal statement about the readiness of a release artefact. Like they say at airport security, "did you pack these bags yourself?" 2. Has the release manager read through the release guide: http://incubator.apache.org/guides/releasemanagement.html (It is long, and there are many parts that seem confusing. I am MORE than happy to answer questions and work out any problems with someone.) 3. It might be a good idea to structure your personal dist directory like the actual dist directory, for practice and consistency, if nothing else.
