I also agree that the tree structure was one of the most appealing aspects of cloudstack 2.0 . It gives an overview of the architecture straight away without navigating deeply into the UI , leading to lesser number of clicks as well compared to the current scenario where the user has to navigate through Infrastructure -> Zones-> then finally to the Compute and Storage tab. However , adding more and more drop down menus to display whatsoever parameters like (network/storage/Routers/Services etc) on the main UI would render it more cluttered in a way. I mean you got to make a compromise somewhere. Another brilliant idea which Sonny came up with was that of a quick View for a VM where just hovering over the instance name could display the parameters/functionalities/tasks associated with a VM . This would definitely minimize the number of clicks as well where the end user can perform multiple tasks from the same window, also reducing the extent of unnecessary navigation.( Attached the image for the same) . Please have a look and give suggestions for the same. Sonny can elaborate more on the UI-plugin architecture which has been planned as an upcoming requirement. I think a simple collapsible tree view would be very helpful. It should look like other management consoles. Take a look at vcenter or xencenter. --Alex
