Geez, you want me to share my brain failures? ;-p In my defense, I was up half the night taking care of sick progeny.
The slice-probes call was working fine, and wasn't affected by the .write call. The call to score-str was wrong. The failure it generated looked like an earlier failure I'd had calling slice-probes. I should have been calling a different function that just formatted the values, rather than parsing and formatting the values. It's all working beautifully now.
