I would go with the book "Simply Scheme, Introducing Computer Science" by Harvey and Wright. Install the Racket system on your computer, and have at it.
http://racket-lang.org/ Once you come up to speed on Scheme, you will have no trouble with core Clojure. But if you venture in the the Java interop, you will have to understand object oriented programming. A good resource for Java is "Objects First with Java, A Practical Introduction using BlueJ". Also you can want watch the Brian Harvey lectures on functional programming on Youtube. Good luck, functional programming is challenging and fun.
