Thanks. Your advice to look at the ancestors and emit-defrecord was exactly what I needed to get started. It was still a hassle going through all those files and trying to figure out what interfaces I needed to implement, but most of my problems had to do with lack of documentation (e.g., figuring out that "without" is the method to override to get dissoc behavior) -- the actual amount of work once I figured out what I needed to do wasn't that bad.
