Now that I've had more time to think about it, I think your original idea should be the default, and only, behavior. Scripts should be able to access dependencies of the project, and, if possible, the compiled project classes as well (available after they are compiled). The code I checked into /trunk works this way, or at least it seems to. :-) This will require some new documentation, but it's ready to try (for now, you'll have to check out the code and build it locally).
