Regarding Clojure sequence functions: why couldn't they have the
option of returning non-lazy seqs?  Because you don't always really
need lazy seqs.  It might be nice to have the option.

  (map (fn[x] x) [1 2 3] :strict) -> [1 2 3]

or even

  (binding [*strict* true]
      (map (fn[x] x) [1 2 3]))

-> [1 2 3]
