That's what I find funny about these threads, Clojure's Java interop is good, Java is easy to write performant code in. There is a clear path to getting the best JVM performance possible from a Clojure environment. I'm not saying that we shouldn't worry about Clojure's general performance - but for microbenchmarks there is a very clear optimization strategy.
