Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't realise that. Although, now that you've mentioned it it does make sense. In any case, I've taken the approach of stripping out all of the type annotations for the time being, I'm going to get the code into a state that I'm happy with and then turn on reflection warnings to identify where they could be useful.
