Is there anywhere to get clamd freshclam file to run as a daemon for Centos 6 please, so the service can be stopped and started, etc.
Yes of course there is. There are several ways to do such a trivial administrative task, but you do not appear to be sufficiently familiar with Linux to do it. That's just an observation based on your posts, and it isn't meant to be a criticism of you personally, but it's very relevant to what follows.
I have this for Centos 7 but is systemd residing in /lib/systemd/system/clamd-freshclam.service, which does not work for Centos 6:
Several people have already told you that CentOS 6 is now obsolete. That doesn't mean that people won't continue to use it, but it does mean that if you are to continue using it safely, in order to be able to keep the system safe you will need to have a great deal more Linux administration experience than evidently you do. If you cannot keep your systems safe, then sooner or later you will be one more part of the world-wide problem of hijacked computers peddling malware, spam, DOS attacks and generally being a nuisance. It is not sufficient to install ClamAV as an alternative to knowing what you're doing. You should stop using CentOS 6 and migrate to a supported OS - in fact you really should have done that some time ago. Trying to do anything else at this stage, and in particular trying to get people on this list to do your fire-fighting for you, is to waste everyone's time and is impolite. In addition, installing ClamAV will not make an insecure system any less insecure. I mention that because I believe that you (along with most other people who install ClamAV) don't understand that. If you use ClamAV to scan a filesystem it will only be able to tell you about things already in the filesystem - when it's probably too late to prevent any damage that it might do. -- 73, Ged. _______________________________________________ clamav-users mailing list clamav-users@lists.clamav.net https://lists.clamav.net/mailman/listinfo/clamav-users Help us build a comprehensive ClamAV guide: https://github.com/vrtadmin/clamav-faq http://www.clamav.net/contact.html#ml
