This open source, free, project is made up of its community. While we provide
most of the detection and underlying systems that support the project and
community, the ton of community based signatures we ingest and publish are the
real help.

Obviously you are unhappy and have been unhappy with the state of the project
for some time. Every email you've recently written has just been mean spirited
and not adding to detection or helping people participate in the project.
Consistently being negative without advancing the state of the project is not
constructive.

Please understand that we all want a constructive community and largely it's
made up of people like that. But the amount of offlist email I receive about
your communication makes it quite obvious that I am not the only one who
realizes you are unhappy here.

Please participate in a positive manner with providing detection to others,
helping others with their installs, helping with development, etc. This is a
free project, so I can't offer you a refund.

If you are so unhappy, why are you on the list?

Please remain constructive and help out the community.

He asked:

" I just wanted to ask you whether I can be sure, or should worry; .... I would
like to be sure that that was actually a false positive (or in which percentage
it might be)."

And I answered him with my opinion:

(Of his original file recently now being detected):

1, It was a windows installation CD
2, Its a file nearly 20 years old
3, Clam signatures couldnt detect water in an ocean. (I would be very
surprised if it ever detects a real threat for you).

All reasonable and FACTUAL for a determination to conclude that he would be
safe. That means CONSTRUCTIVE in my view. At what point does it say I am
unhappy? I am VERY happy with Clam with my additional use of effective 3rd
party signatures (Sane Security).

Why remain on the list?

To be HELPful. if I can giving people the opportunity of decisions based on
other people's (my) opinions and experiences so that that may come to
conclusion of their own once weighing up everything that they are advised, then
I will. After all, isnt that what a PUBLIC mailing list where people ask
questions and advice to the public is about?

Why waste your time asking me these things and soiling the thread with
irrelevant nonsense? Evidently you dont like some of the disparaging things I
say about the effectiveness of ClamAv signatures - so do something about the
(ineffective) quality of the poor signatures and not about the people (plural!)
mentioning it.
