The machine in question is an older thingy with 256MB memory running an embedded Linux version and a special full screen application over TinyX and FBDEV. Is is possible to make ClamAV use less memory perhaps by repetitive scanning with a smaller subset of the virus signature file at a time?
Why is your client even using ClamAV on this system? The vast majority of threats against which ClamAV can protect are threats only to Windows machines. Linux, embedded or otherwise, can not be affected by them. If there are other machines within, say, a LAN, of which this miniscule system is a part, then would it not seem strange to be using it to provide anti-virus services to other (and presumably more powerful) machines? -- 73, Ged. _______________________________________________ Help us build a comprehensive ClamAV guide: https://github.com/vrtadmin/clamav-faq http://www.clamav.net/support/ml
