There's not much I can add to what Nigel already said. But obviously there is some confusion about what the Commercial ClamAV End of Life means, and I wanted to correct a few things.
We are no longer selling a commercially supported certified version of ClamAV. Meaning, you can't call Sourcefire Support and ask questions about the functionality anymore. ClamAV as an open source product will continue to be made, shipped, and updated. We update ClamAV constantly with signature support and this has no plans to change. As Nigel said, we are going to be increasing the amount of signatures we'll be producing soon. ClamAV as a mail filter (milter) is totally acceptable and will continue to be useful, as we have no plans on EOL'ing this functionality. To ask questions about ClamAV, we direct you to the clamav-users list: http://lists.clamav.net/mailman/listinfo/clamav-users ClamAV is now built into our Host based Advanced Malware solution called FireAMP. It is one of many engines that run both on the host and in the cloud to enable the most advanced protection for host based threats to date. FireAMP does not run as a "mail gateway" (milter) scanning solution. The Immunet client for Windows is the consumer version for desktops. I hope this clears up any mistakes or misconceptions. -- Joel Esler Senior Research Engineer, VRT OpenSource Community Manager Sourcefire On Nov 27, 2012, at 2:17 PM, Dennis Peterson <denni...@inetnw.com> wrote: > I was hoping to hear from someone higher up than a mentalist time lord. > > On 11/27/12 10:11 AM, Nigel Houghton wrote: >> >> On Nov 27, 2012, at 12:32 PM, Dennis Peterson <denni...@inetnw.com> wrote: >> >>> Can we get a link to a SourceFire statement on the future of ClamAV?
