I think you can do that, but you must not copy the code. The safe ways
to avoit such legal problems is to have two groups of people, one that
reads, tries to understand how does the stuff work, and explains to
another one, that will build code based on those informations.
However, the clamd protocol is afaik documented and you _can_ use that
knowledge to build your SW
