In principle it could run on any Linux-based OS but would probably be a little too resource hungry for most mobile usage. The processor load and memory consumption could both be issues, although some of the newer mobile devices do now sport multi-gigabyte memories. The data transfers for virus signature updates could become costly, especially now that the telcos have suddenly noticed that their 3G networks can't support what they've sold and many of them have had to renege on their unlimited download deals. TBH I think this is bordering on silly. A mobile device is supposed to provide a useful service to me which will save me time and effort. If instead it's going to be susceptible to malicious software and I'm going to be a slave to the danged thing then I don't want one. Speaking personally, if I didn't have to support email for customers who operate Windows machines then I wouldn't bother running anti-virus software at all. If I get a new 'phone it will run a Linux-based OS, but at the moment I'm quite happy with my 12 year old Nokia. One day I might even get a new battery for it. :) -- 73, Ged. _______________________________________________ Help us build a comprehensive ClamAV guide: visit http://wiki.clamav.net http://www.clamav.net/support/ml
