Hi, I'm a bit confused on the "Checks" variable in freshclam.conf. In various places on the website and elsewhere, it seems to indicate that freshclam should be run manually (periodically in cron) to update the virus databases. However, the "Checks" variable implies that it is perhaps being automatically spawned periodically by clamd and there is no need to automate this in cron?
Is it then necessary to somehow signal clamd to run freshclam? In the past it has always been necessary to run it from cron, I believe. Where is this documented?
