Yes it's cost. The function of the server is as a mysql-backended pdns
non-recursive secondary name server and a mysql-backended mail server
for about 30 mailboxes ( there is also some mysql replication going on
). Everything is actually running on 128MB of ram now, albeit very
slowly. I think that it will run ok on 256MB.
Thanks Edwin, Jim & Bowie, I REALLY appreciate all your help and input.
The server will also act as a monitoring agent, for our main web hosting
server (hosted here in South Africa), when it finds that the main host
is not responsive it will reconfigure the dns entries and provision a
replacement web server on Amazon for the duration of the hosting server
outage. So I'm getting quite excited now, things are really coming together.
