You might want to go with a bit more memory than that if you can. On my
system, clamd takes up 138m all on its own (with the Sanesecurity
signatures).

I'll bet the issue is cost. I am making this on the assumption that A2 refers to A2Hosting. As such, they charge for each increment in ram on a monthly basis. As long as the server is not doing a lot of hosting or mysql, then he may get away with 256MB.
