Hi,

If clamdscan calls clamd when it is run as a scheduled task is there a
reason for having clamd running as a windows service? It appears that it
would be loaded and using RAM for no reason.

Alternatively, Rob has mentioned that I could just use clamscan which
includes clamd functionality as a scheduled task and again this appears
to indicate there is little to be gained by having clamd as a service on
windows.

On my windows server 2003 I don't have a mail server, which I assume is
the key reason for having clamd as a service so that it can be called as
email goes in and out.

Regards
Mark
