I understand that part of the problem.
Sendmail's fault not yours.

However, form a user's perspective, if the old version did, and the
upgrade can't, then the upgrade was a downgrade.  At which point a
different solution may need to be considered.

Its very hard to claim that you CAN'T fly, when a user base of several
thousand SAW you fly.
