Many of us write our own signatures and don't care to make them public. It is
not impossible that they contain proprietary information.

The absurdity seems to be spreading. As the installer of any signature used in
my environment I'm the guy to call. They don't get installed by accident. I
know
the source. There are no "unofficial" signatures in my system. What I'm saying
is I, not SourceFire, own the privilege of declaring what is or is not
official.
If you want to put a trademark in the SourceFire signatures then do so, but
better is to not tag my signatures as unofficial. Their presence in the system
is evidence they are in fact, official.
