Thanks. For this reply. Is it also possible to view the versions of the
local databases ? So not the version of those available at the mirrors?
(without grepping over the freshclam logfiles).

Use DNS to query the current available database version:

dig TXT current.cvd.clamav.net

It will return the TXT record. Here's an example:
0.91.2:44:4533:1192196066:1

ClamAV version: 0.91.2
main.cvd version: 44
daily.cvd version: 4533
Unix time of update: 1192196066 (Oct 12, 2007 at 06:34:26 in my timezone)
