Maybe if we knew more about the situation we could help more. Presumably the remote linux server and the Windows clients have no other access to the Internet than the satellite link, or you wouldn't be asking these questions. If that is the case, why not run all the mail scanning at the headquarters server? That way you wouldn't have to pay to send the signature data over the satellite link, so that it can then reject the spam and viruses that you send over the same link... How expensive is the satellite link? Is it so expensive that it would be worth the cost of installing a system to transfer information using long-range radio in the MF or HF bands? For something like a spam and virus signature database the average data rate should not be very high (of the order of a few hundred bytes per hour) so the medium should be capable of supporting it easily. -rw-r--r-- 1 ged ged 1164 2007-10-04 14:22 daily-4471.cdiff -rw-r--r-- 1 ged ged 616 2007-10-04 15:45 daily-4472.cdiff -rw-r--r-- 1 ged ged 989 2007-10-05 08:49 daily-4473.cdiff -rw-r--r-- 1 ged ged 628 2007-10-05 08:59 daily-4474.cdiff -rw-r--r-- 1 ged ged 607 2007-10-05 09:56 daily-4475.cdiff -rw-r--r-- 1 ged ged 3874 2007-10-05 10:53 daily-4476.cdiff -rw-r--r-- 1 ged ged 863 2007-10-05 10:58 daily-4477.cdiff -rw-r--r-- 1 ged ged 766 2007-10-05 11:56 daily-4478.cdiff -rw-r--r-- 1 ged ged 575 2007-10-05 15:14 daily-4479.cdiff -rw-r--r-- 1 ged ged 872 2007-10-05 15:51 daily-4480.cdiff -rw-r--r-- 1 ged ged 714 2007-10-05 23:08 daily-4481.cdiff -rw-r--r-- 1 ged ged 573 2007-10-05 23:43 daily-4482.cdiff -- 73, Ged. _______________________________________________ Help us build a comprehensive ClamAV guide: visit http://wiki.clamav.net http://lurker.clamav.net/list/clamav-users.html
