I had to do the same (Solaris 10 x86, Solaris 9 SPARC).
Since the change, over a day ago, we have seen no further problems.
It is true that it holds longer without the experimental code, but after 2 days we had also a crash in that configuration. So we had to run clamdmon, which is
not a clean solution :-( BTW: 0.88.7 was rock stable for months
FWIW: The experimental code is still going strong on the test machine, Solaris 10 Intel.
