Nothing was in syslog, except that clmilter could not connect to the
clamd socket.  So all of the mail was rejected.

Yes, I do have clamd logging to a file.  Here is the output around the
time of failure and this could be a clue to the problem.

Mon Mar  5 03:10:01 2007 -> SIGHUP caught: re-opening log file.
clamfi_eom: read nothing from clamd on
mcsrv5/opt/csw/var/clamav/clamd.sock: Connection
refused /opt/csw/var/clamav/clamd.sock: Connection refused

Also, for years, I rotate the logs weekly with Solaris logadm.
Although, I cannot reconcile the times; it looks like the weekly log
rotation occurred at that time.  Before the SIGHUP, the only entries are
'checking the database'.
