Just to throw my 2 cents (US) in. I have similar problems on an intermittent basis. Here is an extract from my clam-update.log from last evening. Worked fine at 20:35, bombed at 21:35, then worked again at 22:35. This has been happening every couple of days for the 2 weeks or so, which is roughly coincidental with the upgrade to 0.88.4. The network hasn't been throwing off any errors during this time (and I read my logwatch reports).
