I in order to resolve this problem (Can't initialize the virus database) I
have:

- uninstall the previous clam version (0.88.1) with 'rpm -e clamav'
- I have created '/var/lib/clamav' with the right permissions
- I have created the user/groups 'clamav'
- yum install clamav

..but now I do not understand if clamav/freshclam he is in execution or not

If you didn't run freshclam then you don't have any up-to-date
signatures. It's up to you to run it. All the install process does
is put the files on the disk, it doesn't start anything.

..in '/etc/rc.d/init.d' I don't have a nobody script for boot startup of
freshclam, but when I used the previous version (0.88.1) was this ! ..

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you're trying to say.

You need to:

1) Start freshclam in daemon mode
2) If you want to use clamdscan then start clamd

If you take a look in the source (not the RPM) you'll find provided
init.d scripts for SuSE. Whether or not the RPM provide scripts I
don't know.
