Did you check the directories' persmissions? On my system, they aren't the same ... #ls -l -a /tmp drwxrwxrwt 3 root root 4096 Aug 29 15:02 . #ls -l -a /var/run drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Aug 29 12:13 .
