You need to edit the milter.conf, clamd.conf and freshclam.conf files just like it says. Before you do that you should read about and understand the purpose of the options in those files. There is no shortcut for this learning step and if you fail at this you will never be certain your installation is working correctly.
If you did not properly uninstall the previous version you may have a confusing set of duplicate files on your system and this too should be studied and understood.
