Simon Ok once you start clamav-milter - is it running e.g. ps -ef |grep clam If not is the file /var/run/clamav/clmilter created at all? Is the file /var/run/clmilter.pid created? Is there possibly an old .pid file lieing around or possibly you don't have permission to write to /var/run/ as clamav user?
