Hi all, clamav-0.75.1
I've few servers based on RH 6.0 ( or RH 5.0 ) in fact that's are Cobalt Raq 3i servers. Because Cobalt Networks ( now Sun Microsystems ) set free license on that system, I've transfered all system ( binaries, usera accounts, all filesystems ) to the new platform ( Intel Pentuim III ) All software, compiled earlier and compiled on new platform ( mysql,postgres,apache,etc. ) works fine. Clamd with clamav-milter and clamscan works fine on old platform ( AMD-K6 ) on the new platform clamav compile fine, and start OK. But when I run freshclam it tries to download main.cvd and fails after few seconds with: "Illegal Instructions" When I get main.cvd and daily.cvd from other servers ( with an old architecture ) clamd doesn't start at all. When I try to strace clamd I can see that it reads main.cvd and crash with "illegal instructions". So after all it seems that problem is in main/daily.cvd I've read earlier posts with title: "Illegal Instructions" and probably there is a problem with pentium optimization, optimization is probably used when I compile clamav and is not in some system libraries. My question is: Can I compile clamav without pentium optimization, some flags to gcc to compile it as on 386 processor ? I've made some test: Configure, and compile clamav on old platform ( AMD-K6 ) and move everything on intel, and then "make install" - but no change :( freshclam fails when downloading main.cvd, clamd fails when I copy new main.cvd manually. I'm trying to run new clamav because so far I was using clamav-0.54 with amavis, but for a month old clamav can't update virus databases, because format has changed. I would like migrate from amavis-milter to clamav-milter because clamav is faster. Anyway, now I can't use clamav antivirus with my servers and I can't go back to old architecture (AMD-K6) because of performance. Any advice, maybe recompile some system libraries, but which one?
