That's even more reason to use standard update mechanism, and not creating your own.
When I see that "clamav has detected virus x on yy:yy", I want to know that it IS infact
able to detect it using the standard update settings, and not because I have to
change the settings manually (e.g to make it check for updates every minutes, for example).


If you want to know when a new virus was added to clamav virus db, then joining
clamav-virusdb list will be a good idea :)
