Hi Everyone,

I apologize if this has come up before in here. As far as I can tell I don't have access to the list archive to look and not clutter up the channel. I even (in order not to add to the list fodder) ran several google searches to see if anyone else had brought this up. I can't find anything that matches my problem.

I'm installing ClamAV on my mail server for my (new) company's use. That machine is running Mandrake 9.1 and the latest versions of Postfix and SpamAssassin.

I downloaded ClamAV and used the HTML documentation (http://www.clamav.net/doc/0.72/html/) off the ClamAV website to do my install. In other words, RTFM is *not* an appropriate response. I did. I have. I'm still having issues.

I made it through the entire Installation, Usage, and Problem Solving sections of the documentation. However, when I attempted to start clamd, I got the following:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] /]# clamd
ERROR: Database initialization error.

I checked my clamav.conf file, and my DatabaseDirectory directive points to the /var/lib/clamav directory.
    I checked /var/lib/clamav; it's empty.
I checked the permissions on /var/lib/clamav and they are as follows:

drwxr-xr-x    2 clamav   clamav       4096 Jun  3 17:13 clamav/

I initially thought that I needed to download a database to start with, so I configured freshclam, set up my cron job to run it every other hour, and ran it. It states that I'm up to date.

Any ideas?

Thanks in Advance!
