Hello Tomasz. > What does 'most known' mean ?
Just the famous one, or as they call it on wildlist.org, the ones which were submitted more than once... > At least Symantec has full access to all WildList.org virus > samples because that "independent" organization was founded, > among others, by the members of the SARC staff. So that means you do not have access to that list? Is there any way we could have an independent test? > After the infamous article about ClamAV in heise.de (in which > they criticized Web.de for using our software) we contacted > WildList.org (on Sat, 06 Dec 2003 10:56:33 +0100) but never > received any answer. That does really not show the required professionality. > Personally, I don't consider that test independent. I agree. Especially the fact, that GMX themselves were initiating this test and as they say in the paper, freenet.de didn't even have any anti-virus solution at that time, but quickly added ClamAV to be considered in the test. Because of this, and the fact that I am also running a free e-mail system in Switzerland and we are in competition, I am very interested to have something to prove the opposite. GMX has made that test public and even adds a slogan in the footer of each outgoing e-mail. > Expecially that '100%' for Sophos and Symantec is rather > surprising, because we have many samples (including recent > ones) that are missed by both of them. I am sure that ClamAV is not the same like in January, it's evolving every time and we are strong supporters of ClamAV. > Anyway, I think not only ClamAV but also WildList.org and the > famous German A-V specialist should refresh their ItW collection. That's true :) ... Best regards, Phil.
