Thank you for the patch, I will apply it and re-compile clamd.

I also saw in the log file, that whenever clamd crashes, the last line
logged is something like this:

Thu Jan 15 13:03:02 2004 -> Session 4 stopped due to timeout.
Wed Jan 14 15:19:17 2004 -> Session 2 stopped due to timeout.
Tue Jan 13 19:23:51 2004 -> Session 1 stopped due to timeout.

Maybe your patch will really fix this, I will keep you informed.
