I would like to know how I can remotely restart the clamd server... or
actually kill all the processes.

It happens that clamd sometimes is not working correctly anymore, but I can
still remotely access it and send commands. I am using clamd (running on
Linux) to scan the mail server (running on Windows) remotely and it works
great so far. Just sometimes, after I sent the "STREAM" command, I don't get
back the "PORT" response. If this happens, all further requests send to
clamd will fail. When I manually kill the clamd process (killproc clamd) and
restart it (clamd) it is working great again.

If it is possible to still access the clamd server remotely, could I send
another command, like "KILL", in a case where "STREAM" doesn't give me any
response in order to kill the processes? This would make it much easier for
me to manage the clamd server.

I only find out about this problem accidentally when I am checking the log
files. That's not good, because my mail server won't check for any viruses
during the time this happens. If it could be an automation, that would be
nice. Or is there any other way I could do this?

Regards,
Phil.
