Yes. They were tested with FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE and 5.1-RELEASE.

If you install clamd under daemontools(supervise) the way the document
I attached to the first email describes, then clamd can core dump to it's
heart's content and it will be restarted within seconds.

Wash,

clamdctl is an sh script. It should run on any *NIX. However, clamdctl by itself
won't do you any good. it's just a control script for DJB's daemontools package.
You can find out more about daemontools/download it here:

http://cr.yp.to/daemontools.html

daemontools builds without any problems on both FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE and
FreeBSD 5.1-RELEASE, so you shouldn't have any trouble installing it as long
as you follow the instructions here:

http://cr.yp.to/daemontools/install.html

daemontools was designed to supervise the qmail MTA's various daemon
processes, but I frequently find it useful for supervising other daemons, like
clamd, also.

Let me know if you have any trouble getting everything set up. It's kind of
hard to tell where the /usr/local/clamav/supervise/clamd/run script ends
in the document I sent to the list in the first email. Just ask if you get stuck.
