It may be a wrong shot, but: start-up scripts (like these ones in /etc/rc.d/) often contain explicitly set PATH variable. Maybe the PATH in your /etc/rc.d/rc.local does not contain the directory in which clamdscan is?... -- Tomasz Papszun SysAdm @ TP S.A.
