It appears to get the error, and then from that point on, it fails until we restart it. We don't have a "firewall" (per se) here at UD - the big-cheese-types won't allow us to use one (of course, it's just a matter of time before they "wake up" and that will change ;-). It definitely seems as though freshclam gets "messed up" so that it won't work... whenever we restart it, it works immediately first try (unless the sig sites are really unreachable).
