Too bad it happened. Well, it has been a looong... time since I used
sendmail.
It is sure good, but I decided to go for Exim, since it is a lot more easier
to
configure and setup. I also use Exiscan (integrates AV and Spam filtering
INSIDE the MTA, and not as a separate launch-on-demand-process).
It works great and really fine. Also, the load is a lot less than sendmail,
so
if you have a busy server it might be a nice idea to take a look at it.

I have had *big* problems in the past with AMAVIS. It simply refused to
delete temp files. I was running a fairly busy server, so after a couple of
days,
I had 1 or 2 gigs of temp files hanging around. Not to mention the
incredible
number of directories, that slowed down the machine to death, generating a
lot
of swap.

Anyway, AMAVIS needs to be launched everytime an email arrives. It is also
made in perl. That is enough to be a machine killer.

Try using Exim + exiscan. I am pretty sure you will be glad.

I hope it helps.
