I'm sorry, could you be a little more specific? I certainly wasn't suggesting that this be default behavior (since it would have serious performance behavior issues with on-demand scanning). That's why I made a configure-time options, so that in situations like mine, where I am only interested in the mail-scanning feature, it could be enabled.
I'm just looking for a way to get clamd to scan a file as mail, even though the file doesn't meet what you would ordinarily recognize as a mail file. I've got files which contain only the MIME body (no headers), so the normal heuristics are not working.
