Different distros name the header packages differently. I didn't
notice if you'd mentioned what distro you are using. For me, running
Ubuntu, most of those appear to be the package name and '-dev'. Like
'libraw1394' has 'libraw1394-dev' so you'd install both those packages.

Hello Cinelerra
I am trying once again to get Cinelerra working.
This time I wish to install the Community Version and follow the
instructions in:-
http://cinelerra.org/docs/cinelerra_cv_manual_en.html#SEC9
I am not a computer engineer though I have now managed Ubuntu for
two years there are many things I cannot understand so when I read
Section2.2 - Software requirements... I am lost...!
Section 2.2 <<<<<<<
To install Cinelerra you should have a current version of GNU/Linux
with the X Window System (e.g., X.org) and some audio management
software properly running. You should also have the following
libraries installed (partial list):
a52dec
dv
faac
ffmpeg
fftw
lame
libavc1394
libfaad2
libraw1394
mjpegtools
OpenEXR
theora
x264
You will also need the headers for all required libraries. For many
distributions, this means that you will need to install the "-dev"
or "devel" packages that correspond to your installed library
packages. In addition to the libraries listed here, be sure you have
the X library headers. Missing headers will usually result in
compilation failing with cryptic error messages.
I do not know what the above paragraph means.
How can I find out what 'headers' are and what to do with them? How
do I find dev packages which 'correspond' to libraries. What are X
library headers etc etc.
I want to edit .mov files from a canon 5DMKII (UK 25fps)
My machine is a 64bit AMD 2.6GHz with masses of memory 250GB SATA
and 1TB of separate SATA drive.
There must be others who have my difficulties...?
Regards to all
Daf
