Thanks again - this time, for the encouragement.

So, I crossed my fingers, took a deep breath, and 'just rebuilt cinelerra'.

(1) The operation was a success.  (I have an app that runs)

(2) I'm not sure, yet, whether it cured my original complaint.
But (for N=1), I did render a brief clip to YUV4MPEG Stream and
the resulting .m2v plays 'correctly' on xine.

FWIW: I 'git'd at about 1100 UTC today (although I neglected to include
version info in my config, so don't have an formal build label.)
