I notice this is working with the RGBA float color model as well as
RGBA 8 bit. Using TIFF with RGBA float should potentially give the
ultimate high quality intermediate render. But I notice that the
rendered images (for PAL DVD) are 1.2MB no matter which color model
you use. Hve you done any investigation into a workflow to preserve
the maximum possible color depth?

Largest video that I did was 15 minutes. And it has only about 3
minutes of video which require prerendering and intermediate storing.

I'm often using OpenEXR. It is good format to storing float images. And
it is supported by blender and pixie.

That worked thanks. 6.3MB for an RGBAfloat image or 2.1MB for the same with lossless compression. I wonder how long before GIMP supports exr format... In the meantime I'm going to download cinepaint.

I am realising that a lot more codecs work on cinelerra than I previously thought - you just need to get your color model right or they silently fail... Thanks again.

Graham
